Jane Denman – Owner NVQ level 4

Hi my name is Jane but for some reason better known by the children as James!

I am a professional golfer and still teach golf. I was a founder member of the Ladies European tour and Captained and played for my country.

I’m married with four beautiful children, who are now all grown up. I asked my husband if I could open a nursery school on the farm, he nearly had a heart attack, and said “what in the house?!”. He then quickly told me I could have the old work shop down in the square and GCN was born in May 2000.

GCN is one of my great joys. I just love seeing such beautiful innocent children develop in amazing surroundings and being challenged by handpicked staff. Kerry and I have very strong feelings of how we develop children as individuals, giving them confidence that will remain with them forever.

I am proud of my staff and feel we run a nursery school that puts children at the forefront of all we do.

Kerry Ancliff – Head NVQ level 4

From a very young age friends and family used to say that I should work with children, and after completing my A Levels I took a year out to work in a nursery to see if this was the path I wanted to take. It was!! I completed my BTEC diploma in childcare and education and when I joined Garden Cottage Nursery in 2000 gained many more qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Management and NVQ Level 4 in Childcare and Education. I adore my job, watching the children grow and develop into individuals with their own personalities is fascinating. I have a keen interest in supporting children with additional needs and am blessed to say that I wake up in the morning and want to go to work everyday!

Hi my name is Chelsea and I’ve been working at Garden Cottage Nursery since January 2013. Growing up in a big family I’ve always wanted to work with children. I love watching them grow up and develop.

I have a level 3 qualification in childcare which I achieved at college and was lucky enough to do many of my placements here at Garden Cottage Nursery. I loved it so much that I asked Jane if there was ever a job here then please would she consider me.  Great news for me, she did!

I have worked in many of the rooms in the Nursery but have spent most of my time in Sweatpeas which I’m now room leader off. Working in Sweatpeas is so much fun and I love working with all the girls here. Its such a lovely environment.

I love coming to work every morning and seeing the children’s smiley faces. I also love going exploring on our walks through the beautiful grounds we have here at the nursery.

Sammy - NVQ level 3

I have worked at GCN since April 2015. I started off as an apprentice in Apple room and loved it straight away. After a year I was asked to move to Sweatpeas and although I was apprehensive at first I settled in well and couldn’t ask for a better job. I then achieved my level 3 in April 2017. I have always loved children, so when the opportunity to work with them came up, I jumped at the chance. I love the children and they can always put a smile on my face.

Charlotte – Apprentice

I completed my level 2 in childcare through Northbrook College and now I am an apprentice working towards my level 3 here at GCN which I am hoping to complete later this year.

Whilst at school I was a prefect with responsibilities for early years 1 and 2 (ages 5-6) which I absolutely loved. In year 10 my work experience was at a local nursery which really ignited my passion for working with children. Also for 4 years over the summer holidays, I gave up 4 weeks of my time to volunteer at Chanctonbury Community Playscheme which helps disabled children between 5 and 19 years, which I felt was a very rewarding experience. All in all, I love working with children.

Sarah – NVQ level 2

I have recently joined GCN, I’m a mum of 3 and I have been a childminder for the past 12 years. Its lovely getting to know all the children here and the setting is so beautiful, I really enjoy feeding the chickens and sheep. I’m also going to be working towards my NVQ level 3 at GCN.
