EYTS

I’m predominantly based in Apple Room here at Garden Cottage Nursery.

I joined the fabulous Garden Cottage Nursery team in January 2019. I was very impressed with the family orientated, nurturing environment which is supported with incredible outdoor opportunities available here at GCN. Throughout the course of the last 10 years I have accomplished a variety of qualifications in pursuit of developing my knowledge as an ‘Early years professional’. With the knowledge and experience I have acquired over the last 10 years, I truly value the importance of play in the early years, in addition, the impact of a nurturing and inquisitive environment.

I am passionate about making a difference to young children’s education. As quoted by Maria Montessori (1879) “The hand is the pathway to the brain”. I find it fascinating how the innocent mind of a child can acquire such intricate and technical information before the age of 4; from accruing a language or two, to developing concentration and life skills. To be a part of that journey is something so special. I enjoy observing the children’s natural interests which inspire much of the activities we enjoy together. I hope to be able to inspire your children to be creative, confident and passionate citizens of the world.

A little about my background, in 2012, I completed a level 4 International Diploma in Montessori Early Childhood Education (Birth-7 yrs.). In 2015-16 to further that qualification, I topped up to a level 5 Foundation Degree in Montessori Early childhood education. I have to admit, I surpassed my expectations and began to realise that all the support I have received from my family due to my dyslexia, had really helped encourage me forward. Consequently, in 2018 I graduated from London Metropolitan University with a First Class, BA Hons degree in Early Childhood studies. I continue to research and develop my interests through regular reading and courses as I feel there is huge benefit to continued professional development.

Outside of GCN, I train and compete in Dressage at national level. Horses have been my entire life, my passion and my best friends. I am also an official blogger for a very reputable and substantial brand called ‘HorseHealth’ who supply equestrian apparel. I love to ski, and have trained to coaching level. I also have my international RYA level 2 powerboat licence, as I have grown up around boats in the UK and Norway. I also play the piano, flute and sing in a community choir. I alternate choir with ballroom dancing in my spare time. I am very much one who enjoys the great outdoors and have always been very active. As a result, I will always endeavour to share my passion for the outdoors with the children.
