I’m working towards my NVQ level 2 as an apprentice. I have always enjoyed working with children. At my primary school and senior school, I was a peer mentor, so I looked after students who were younger than me, helping them to resolve problems or just giving them someone to talk to. From the age of 14 I started babysitting for family friends and by doing this I realised how much I love spending time with children and how rewarding it is. As I got older I babysat more often and for a larger range of people. My mother is also a nursery school teacher. I think that working with children is not only energising but inspiring too. I love that their imaginations are so creative and that they can find joy in the smallest of things, it makes me want to do the same.
